Rural poverty approaches, policies & strategies in Moldova The Republic of Moldova’s economic strategy gives high priority to agricultural and rural development as a means of increasing rural incomes and living standards. The government’s Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP), which was drawn up in 2004 and covers the period up to 2015, was the first step in launching a national plan to reduce poverty. The strategy’s central policies emphasize sustainable and socially oriented development, the reintegration of Transnistria to the country, and European integration. The government is now mainstreaming the EGPRSP within a National Development Plan (NDP) that includes updated EGPRSP objectives along with relevant elements of the EU-Moldova Action Plan.
