Rural poverty approaches, policies and strategies in Peru

The Government's medium-term strategy to combat rural poverty proposes to:

  • strengthen the competitiveness of small producers and members of the Andean and Amazonian native communities in order to increase employment and income levels
  • increase profitability of available resources
  • contribute to household food security and nutrition
  • build people's capacities to take advantage of market opportunities
