The strategy builds on medium-term post-war strategies for rural and agricultural development that focused on improving household food security and creating opportunities for income-generating activities. Those strategies included expansion of the area under rice cultivation, restocking the country’s livestock population, restructuring delivery services and rehabilitating rural infrastructure.
